The Snake Goddess From Babylonia
“She was a goddess associated with the moon, the planet Venus and the serpent. Being explicitly a goddess of sexuality and fertility, her worship included sacred prostitution. Some historians have pointed to the Garden of Eden being originally a real place found at the tail end of the Persian Gulf, as reflected by other ancient religions as well as our Judeo-Christian one. Said to be found where the 4 rivers meet in the Persian Gulf (the Tigris, the Euphrates, the Pison & the Gihon). The last two are now dried up, but have been found, via satellite, and reflect the effects of the end of the Ice Age which brought on the flood.
Therefore it is here where the power of snakes and goddesses first come together. The Sumerians had many representations of snakes all through their culture and in their religious practices. It is in its ritualistic form and its connection to rebirth (and its other mysterious connections) that undoubtedly both link and attracted women to these forms or religious expression. The overtones of the need to get close to do its damage (so as to constrict its victims, and after enveloping those closest to it), the rebirth when it replaces its skin, its use of poison to kill (as in Roman & Greek history we hear the preferred weapon of wives to kill their husbands), and the preferred habit of indirectness and remaining hidden all point to the bad aspects of bad women’s character.
The earliest inhabitants of Babylonia (present day Iraq), of whom we know anything about, were a people called the Sumerians. They are suggested to have entered the Babylonian plain through the passes of the eastern mountains, roughly 3000 years before the Christian era. Yet the Sumerians have a story almost exactly the same as that of Noah & the Flood story, and thus brings the power of this story to those who lived in Babylonia.
Here the Sumerians formed a number of independent city-states, with each having their own patron goddesses & gods. This region’s cultures and religious practices were likely to have spread in many directions to places like India, Europe and Africa. In the Indian case some aspects of the religions might have originated from India and come west, though it is more likely the other way round on the whole. Still it is in this region (whether by the Kassites from the nearby mountain ranges of present day Iran, or from those peoples moving from the lands now covered in the Persian Gulf after the great flood) that we begin to start our look at women and their connection to snake Goddess worship.
Some creatures living in the oceans can often be mistaken for snakes (aside from the Sea Snakes), and those surviving the great flood would undoubtedly fear any force that they thought controlled the oceans and the underworld. So the worship of snakes could have had its roots in their ignorance of the sea, and what lives in the world beneath them.
It is here in this region where the first discovery of crop production (placing things in the underworld to get food) mixed with the placing of bodies in the underworld upon death, was likely to have made creatures that live in the ground (and were master predators of indirectness) to likely become inheritors of this mantel. The serpent that talks Eve into eating the apple is just such a reference to those who followed the serpent goddess, and was a warning to all women of the day to stay away from this religion or suffer God’s wrath.
Fishing or swimming in the ocean at this time was surely very minimal and so we must see these peoples fear of the oceans and rivers of this world as very real. The “Snake” as sea monster can easily be taken by such peoples in this region as powerful beings, for if one wants food one must make some deal with those in the underworld. Yet it is the fact that women at this time were the likely mystical specialists that allow for this perfect storm to come into being.
Water often comes forth from springs and the ground. With the movement of floods of the old lands in the Persian Gulf it is almost understandable that the peoples from this region would see snakes as mysterious and almost in control of events. Snakes can glide over water or swim thus making them seem unaffected by floods or seas.
A snake’s sex can’t easily be seen either and this may have lead to the idea of sexless worshippers, and other odd courtesans, being closer to the snake religion and to have special powers.
The Romans Called Her the Goddess of 10,000 Names
(From Inanna through Ishtar, Astarte, Aphrodite, Isis to Venus We have the First Medusa)
Along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers there were many shrines and temples dedicated to Inanna. Inanna temples housed many priestesses to the goddess. The high priestess Inanna would choose for her bed a young man who represented the shepherd Dumuzid, consort of Inanna. In late Sumerian history kings established their legitimacy by taking the place of Dumuzi in the temple for one night on the occasion of the New Year’s festival. This yearly mating principle may have been transferred later to the Amazonians as well, as we will see later, and dealt with the fertility of the whole state. Thus allowing both motivation for female leadership and a tradition or historical support theory for women to lead and only have sex with men once a year.
Again it is important to remember that in these ancient times high leaders and religious figures where said to be gods, and so we could be dealing with here "real people" in these stories and not pure myth built upon myth. Before patriarchal times (when men discovered they had a hand in creating children) women where much more the likely religious leaders of the community, and thus the idea of someone being a god on earth was likely to be more of a female created idea than a man’s. How many women have you met that say in her past life she was the goddess yadda yadda yadda?
Even today the need for Divas and boy toys singers (our modern Attis) is motivated more by women groupies than by men. Men as one MRA rightly put it prefer groups with each cooperating in the effort and not one placed out front. It is the job of people in promotion to demand a front man, with good looks, to win a better female or effeminate following.
The Results of Prolonged Youthfulness In Females
Nature or God prolongs youth in humans and other primates to allow the advantages of a longer learning period. Our children must be nurtured for a longer period of time, than most other animals have to do. This has side effects in the negative, along with the obviously stated positive ones. Homosexuality can be created in these periods of youth when younger children become fond of single sex groupings, and then later prefer these groupings to the later arrival of the mixing the sexes. Patriarchal societies are less likely to allow prolonged adolescence in males and to a lesser extent in females. Matriarchal societies prolong adolescence in males and females as women love their own time in youth (in fact, long for it in melancholy ways all their lives), as they also try to look young on the outside all there lives, admire those who have youthful looks for all their adult lives, and tolerate or glorify those who remain youthful in looks and attitude all their lives.
Males on the other hand don’t reach the ideal stage in their lives until they have gained all of the physical, financial and intellectual power, and thus are in command of their world. Therefore youth will remain shorter in an adolescence time period, if brought up in a patriarchal state. Females have less pressure to do this, despite the sexual revolution, as they have not come to admire those men of the past and present who have done the traditional accomplishments in old age. Instead Actors, singers, handsome talking lawyers and journalist, or men in some fashionable settings tend to be admired by most women, and therefore are encouraging females forms of youthful success based upon instincts that need not physical, financial and intellectual power and command of their world. Women push their sons to get secure jobs in the public sector more than the private sector. Thus such men are less likely to create a new product as much as control those who do with red tape.
This Seen World trumping the Unseen World, as George Elders says, is all-important to women. Women prefer boy toys for most of their menstrual cycle over harder men. They prefer dancers over bulky men, and they prefer men who earn their money in fashion, the arts and other ways that are effeminate. Yet in a minority period of their menstrual cycle women look for stronger stuff in a male, and have been know to have a child by the traditional man, yet bring up this male's child by another more effeminate male.
In nature hanging around rough men is dangerous to women, so it is somewhat understandable to shy away later from say the “biker or gangbanger boyfriend.” Yet as society micromanages males, to the length they have, we aren’t talking about such bikers anymore, as much as men who will not come to heel for the state, Mommy Dearest, or the drama queen girlfriend. The danger is from these forces not the males anymore.
So prolong adolescence means prolonging the period where women prefer effeminate males even more of the time, even though they will likely still prefer effeminate men most of the time anyway. The adoption of the pill has been credited with confusing women by surpressing the urge to find these more traditional males and in fact keep them in the stage where they prefer effete males more. So for those NWO types out there we could be seeing the intentional destruction of normal males. The more fears the big daddy state does away with, that the hyper-sensitive effeminates whinning demands, the more such types become even more hypersensitive and scared. The mere direct straight talk of traditional males, called free speech, is thus next to go. Thus a society can turn more and more adolescent preferring and effeminate, as well as becoming more imaginative with the youthful energy used to create new ideas. Nature or God has a balance of costs that we often fail to see, before pursuing a course of action.
The aspect that those who argue that this prolonging of adolescent means more imaginative ideas fail to realize is the fact that changing colors of a product, or adding add ons (to another male's idea) is not as imaginative by far, and that effeminate males tend to make more of these 10th string level of products. While the shocking low level of women’s patents, speak for themselves. Patents for new inventions by women are almost non-existent (less than 10%, despite so many new places in engineering departments and schools for women now available and desired).
For example George Lucas and his people have invented the new technology for movies, while none of the other millions of other people in the industry have done much to but simply adjust those prancing on the screen or in front of the camera. How many times must they redo the work of old great male writers, so that the effeminate movie public doesn’t get confused, as Star Trek became all about feelings and mysticism in the end. George Lucas is yet to receive much acclaim from those elites of the arts, at least as much as the boys toys have. One woman left poor genius George Lucas, and another didn’t want to have kids with him, so his line will die off, even though he has adopted so many kids. WTF? Smart, rich, loves kids and reasonable attractive in his youth, but not a boy toy I guess! Well prefering to live away from Hollywood on a ranch and not fitting in can turn off women who like the parties... you know.
In Australia they prize the sportsman, in Canada the comedian, in the US the actor, in Japan the salaryman, in India the holy man, in England the smart tongue speaker. So each society has more of men with these traits. So increasing the supply of all these areas doesn’t lead to an economic future (aside from Japan), and so all skills are not alike. Prolonged adolescence means boys going for fun more, than say boring anti-fame now, followed by great fame after you are dead and picking up the daisies. Prolonged adolescence means lower birth rates it would seem, so again leaves the more educated parts of the world reproducing less inventive males and more boy toys in the future.
Yet this has other effects as well. One of which is to prolong both the desire of women to remain youthful and to continue youthful characters. To spoil is to keep women in a state of girlish behavior. Yet with women the preference with prosperity is to spoil themselves, and so are societies where women are spoiled so as to prolong characteristics that are quite known to us already. Boys will whine, yes, but women whine more. Both sexes put up with whining from girls more than boys. At some stages in the boys world whining can get a boy set upon by other boys, and he either retreats to the world of women or learns to whine less and do more. So as we now begin to come to terms with a goddess of the past we should see her as this kind of spoiled girl if she acts as such. For if she is a real Hollywood Amazonian (strong & smart) we should also give her credit for standing up as an equal to a man. Yet you will find that there are none in the past, and none to be found in the present.
The First Snake Goddess
(Whining & Flirting to Get more than her Fair Share)
Our part of the story of the early snake goddess begins when Enki’s daughter (Inanna) comes before him with a complaint that she has been given short shrift on her divine spheres of influence. Enlil (the main father of the gods, who is recorded to have had more of a manly character) gives the special codes of civilization to Enki (a weaker brother who is more of a carrier diplomat type). Enki’s daughter demands more of the powers handed out by her father from what he tries to take credit for from his more creative brother.
Enki does his best to placate her by pointing those areas of power she does possess that he has given her. Yet Inanna (a goddess) is still unhappy with her lot in life and desires more power through only whining at first (it would seem). Later she gains the dominating power of affecting issues on the earthly plain from the intrigues to follow, and thus receives the most respect by those who follow her religiously in the future (for people on the whole at this time were much more hand-to-mouth, and so having the goddess with the most power on earth on your side was likely to bring the most worshippers).
Now what we can surmise from this myth may reflect the character of a mere courtesan, or spoiled princess of the court, demanding more power by pleading to those with more power than her to give her a greater share, over say earning her power or making her own power in some way (as opposed to the trait or method of gaining wealth and power from others, as befits a traditional effeminate nature, both common and ungoddesslike).
In another myth, on this very subject of Inanna and Enki: The Transfer of the Arts of Civilization from Eridu to Erech, once again Inanna's discontent and desire for power motivates her to go to her father’s temple (Enki’s) in search of getting that which she has made plain she desires. Enki is either drunk, or she gets him drunk, and she flirts with him in an incestus manner but doesn’t submit to him after getting him all randy. In this state of drunken horniness Enki gives her the roots of civilization that later he would regret. She is said to have then taken them back to her city-state to be glorified by her followers. Enki, after waking up from his hangover, tries to retrieve the items/ideas from her, but cannot as she have fled away back to her city-state and is protect by others.
So from the beginning of history blind female discontent, ambition and using sex without actual performing the act, is combined with a women’s beauty to take and use men’s highest ideas, codes and skills for herself and her flock. Is this not but the centerpiece of our world from the very beginning till even today? Here do we not have much of the other patriarchal religious motivations and distrust of females in history (for them it was history/myth/religion all rolled into one) and much more closer to their time, and very fresh in their memories.
If we were to put on our modern caps for a moment to look at this we would find a kind of reverse raping of a man here, if a single woman being raped can be even compared with the most important possessions of a culture or society. We have this again later in Judeo-Christian teaching when King Harrods reluctantly honors his promise to his daughter to give her anything if she will dance for him again. In this case John the Baptist’s head is given to his daughter at the prodding of her mother, who has received the focus of John’s negative preaching of her sinning and evil.
Pleading to father at court and causing intrigues, so as to then take prized possessions, or a prophet’s life, is something a goddess/ queen does seem to let fly from the beginning of recorded history to today's courts. Again we have plausible deniability on the part of the daughter and mother, for it is King Harrods’s command and his guards that actually do the killing and receive the blame in full from history (and only in religion do we hear of the mother and daughter's motivation).
Matriarchal leadership in goddess religious forum, as a kind of gospel or spiritual set of rights, would mean women have a right to do as Ianna/ Istar, as our present day drama queens would surely agree in all is fair in love, though they would be unaware of how old this practice is. Using sex, getting others to do your desires, and having lots of plausible deniability seems to be the standard of how bad women operate in history right up until today. It is our blindness, or denial to indirect conflict, that allows such characters to rule and corrupt our societies in male or female forum. The direct use of force in violence is deplored, yet in effeminate societies indirect uses of force are much more excused and even admire in say the Feme Fatale.
Not all the items and codes she brings back for her city, court or shrine from Enki’s court/shrine are good methods or codes, but include things like destruction of cities, lying and deep hatred. Certainly things to be found throughout the history of court life, right up until our present day Hollywood courts.
Inanna's Descent to the Underworld
(The prophet castigates Jerusalem women for celebrating the cult of Inanna / Ishtar (Fulco) - Ezekiel 8:14
Inanna's descent to the underworld is another unflattering story. The underworld is what we call hell. One of the strong ideas surrounding her going there was that Inanna might have been intending to conquer the underworld. Ereškigal the queen of the underworld and Inanna's sister may have suspected this, which could explain her harsh treatment of her.
Before she left, Inanna instructed her minister Ninshubur (another female goddess) to plead with the gods Enlil, Nanna, and Enki to save her if anything went wrong. Then, Inanna dresses elaborately for her visit and was off. Following Ereškigal 's instructions, the gatekeeper tells Inanna she may enter the first gate of the underworld, but she must hand over her lapis lazuli (measuring rod). She asks why and is told 'It is just the ways of the Underworld'. She obliges and passes through. Inanna passes through a total of seven gates (an idea of hell that again has traveled along to us today). One part of her attire is removed at each gate in a slow strip tease. In Sumerian mythology some forms of burials included burying the deceased with gifts and clothes (that again has travel to us today), which was used for the gatekeepers and judges of the underworld to win their favor. Why they would want jewels, clothes and other earthly items is not explained, but if the goddesses and gods are like those at court they will certainly want such gifts, wouldn’t they? In the world of women clothes and gifts take on great importance. When she arrives in front of her sister Ereshkigal she is thus naked, again another dramatic effete point in the story.
"After she had crouched down and had her clothes removed, they were carried away. Then she made her sister Erec-ki-gala rise from her throne, and instead she sat on her throne. The Anna, the seven judges, rendered their decision against her. They looked at her -- it was the look of death. They spoke to her -- it was the speech of anger. They shouted at her -- it was the shout of heavy guilt. The afflicted woman was turned into a corpse. And the corpse was hung on a hook."
Ereškigal's hate for Inanna is seen as her being the accidental 'bad girl” of family, as the Sumerians seem chalk full of string pulling women. She cannot leave the underworld to join the others and they cannot visit her in the underworld or else they can never return to the upper world.
Three days and three nights passed and Nincurba following instructions went to Enlil, Nanna, and Enki's temples and demanded they save the Goddess of Love. The first two gods rightly refused to save her for this being a mess of her own making, but Enki (ever the forgiving father of the desperately troubling making daughter) was deeply troubled and agreed to help. So a strong powerful goddess gets others to save her instead of doing so herself. Where is the Amazonian here?
Enki creates two sexless figures (neither male nor female) named gala-tura and the kur-jara. This we later find in Cybele’s worshippers (the galli) as they castrate themselves, and or bloody themselves in some way. Some born hermaphrodites are gathered into Cybele’s court to seem to be of her creation and to add to the weird sexual world in which she ruled. Today we also have many females surrounding themselves in odd sexual practices and body looks to further their appeal and power over men, as they still claim to be like the singer Madonna pure, or "like a Virgin for the very first time?"
Enki instructed the others to appease Ereškigal. Things went as Enki said and the eunuch gala-tura and the kur-jara were able to revive Inanna. Demons of Ereškigal's followed Inanna out of the underworld and demanded that she wasn’t free to go until someone took her place. They first asked for the goddess Nincurba. Inanna refused as this goddess had helped her (her best friend of sorts). Next they asked for Cara, Inanna's beautician, yet she would never give up her hairdresser. They asked for Lulal, who like Cara was in mourning. Inanna refused. They next came upon Dumuzi, Inanna's husband. He was sitting in nice clothing and enjoying himself despite his wife supposedly still being missing in the underworld. Inanna wasn't happy with him, as he hadn’t done as she wanted, and said they could take him. "Familiarity breeds contempt" strikes again. Women as equal and superior is confusing from the very beginning.
Dumuzi tried to escape his fate but a fly told Inanna and the demons where he was. It was then decreed that Dumuzi spent half the year in the underworld and his sister took the other half.
The Inanna and Dumuzi story prefigures those of Cybele and Attis, of Aphrodite and Adonis, of Demeter and Persephone, of Hadad and Anat, of Osiris and Isis and is similar to the story of Nanna (Suen) and Ninlil — all of them tales of a young god or goddess who dies, and a mother or spouse goddess who mourns him. What is most interesting about these facts is how these goddesses were very likely followed or worshipped in the same way in new verisions in new regions of the world by new women who take their place and reused the power that they took from others fame. Just as today some women claim to have been Cleopatra in their past life too!
Each has differing features, and some more mothering than others (so as to make it more acceptable to the locals that may have woman "as nurturer" too ingrained as to accept such an evil Goddess. These very similar identitified mythologies are not dependent on her ability as a mother though. Inanna remains essentially childless. This points to childless women being the harbingers of social conflict of an indirect kind. Inanna was the powerful, all-consuming force of attraction, essential for the continuation of the world in that she was said to center on love and sex, yet brought no children of her own and those of her Galli.
Inanna’s is often a terrifying goddess full of wrath and vengeance. Enheduanna says, “That those who dare to reject her are destroyed, their lands cursed and infertile, the rivers running thick with blood”. Gilgamesh experiences her anger after he rejects her. By saying “no” he then when pressed calls her “a shoe that mangles its owner’s foot” and points to the undeserved things that she has done to 6 of her lovers (she leaves one to die when she is tired of him, changes the gardener into a toad, turned the shepherd into a wolf, etc). Many men have suffered the same in modern times as many states now don't cross examine women in court, and or don't demand proof as tears and words are all bad women need to destroy a man.
Gilgamesh then suffers the death of his soul mate (Enkidu) for his rejecting of her. Horrible things repeatedly happen to her lovers and those who refuse to worship her meet with nasty deaths under the strain of war and famine. Sounds like many drama queens and attention whores today, yet they still claim to be victims of male violence, as they destroy men’s lives with the help of Enki-like men (too forgiving of daughters fathers), or chivalrous to a fault men, or carrier diplomat men who use the situation.
When it comes to sex men have no right to say no to some women, and not suffer indirect destruction, as Gilgamesh suffered. How many women have claimed rape or pregnancy from a man who wouldn’t sleep with them? I’m sure there are men who have suffered throughout history, and I have heard of one case in California where a man was proven through genetics to not to be the father and was still forced to pay to a women he says he refused to have sex with. It is telling that the male heroes at that time, who had high sexual drives, still knew how to say no to a beautiful clothed and perfumed goddess. Not all men are Manginas or Attis-like men and boys.
So we have here the roots of snakes and women as a fertility symbol. Added to with cosmos snakes and mythical hocus pocus we are left feeling we have been here before. Yet it is the spread of these ideas, taking on new names (or the Roman’s 10,000 names), that we see the same old negative character traits that are far from superior to bad male traits.
We also have a slow eating away of the patriarchal religions with first "the Virgin Mary cult", followed by ideas that would get one burned at the stake in the past that Mary Magdalene (the whore) was the wife of Jesus and bore a son and a royal line that survives today in the body of a French woman!!!
Or the fact that God has been seen in many movies to be in a woman’s body. This slow nibbling to death by ducks, purely based not so much on conspiracy as much as the hidden desires of women and effeminate men to be worshippers of the mystical and fashionable new, and at the same time care not for history, tradition, honor and religion.
The Medusa for Real
(Cybele By Any Other Name)
(Agdistis, Cybele, Mater Deum Magna, Rhen, Gaia, Demeter, Dodona)
There are many languages and tribes found in the ancient times, and their isolation in their regions or city-states lead to many lost in translation moments for expansion of religions, and of course, this can be seen in the many names of the First Goddess.
In the Roman’s case they took all or most of the Greek Gods as their own, but proudly gave them other names deliberately. One of the first, if not the first of Gods, was no exception. I will use the Mother of the Gods titled "Cybele" for the sake of simplification, as we must choose one of the “Mothers of all Gods’ names to use in coming to grips with some logical clarity. It is not my position that these versions of this template Goddess are all the same, but they are likely to have originated from either one regional success story, and spread to all others regions, or were simply built upon preexisting local ones that were redefined by the far distant successful story, and of course by local interpretation. If we look at Christianity’s spread through the much of their world at their time (the Roman Empire) we still see quite a lot of versions of Christianity, and no one demands we prove they all come from the same source, in fact we accept they probably came from the same source and have been distorted. The only difference with the Cybele goddess is that she took longer to spread over about the same distance (at least in ancient times) and thus has more distortion from the journey due to its slower moving from one region to another ( no Roman roads and safe passage). Like Christianity has done, it probably took on local customs and seasonal important dates of the locals to help in its spread too, and thus was laid over other earth mother cults that may have had local roots. Christianity was so helped by the Roman roads and protection of travelers even to this day, with our own methods of transportation, that it got distorted less in comparison should be a given.
The desperate need for many effeminates to mystically attach themselves to famous women of the past, or new fashionable fads, is alive and well even today and shows this need to be a mystic diva goddess (not found in men, outside of gay men circles). Most men react to this like Crash so rightly put it in the movie Bull Durham, by asking why such effeminates become such famous people of the past and not no-bodies? If such mystics think they have a genetic line to Cleopatra it would help to not see her line was destroyed by Octavian/Augustus for it threaten his power, and so thereby it is unlikely any person has a direct line to the real Cleopatra queen of Egypt today. If there is one by chance, it is likely to be some Moslem women in Egypt with all her clothes on and unable to use her feminine wilds to take power, and not some city slicker, hyper-rationalistic, mystical, high-strung woman in one of the many art worlds that inhabit the urbanite west. This is kind of like multiculturalism, which also needs no real understanding of other cultures as much as to declare them all of equal worth and allow the weakening of there own male traditional western ones. The purpose of such mystical ideas may be simply to give power to the believer and take it from others in a mystic magic ploy. Deconstructionism's root.
The Changing Looks of Cybele
By placing a child, a cute animal or plant beside someone is a very old idea for good PR, that politicians have known for sometime. Maybe you have seen a ugly girl with a pretty girlfriend who she hopes will allow her the spoils of making her look better, and or the picking off one of the other boys on the other’s rebound? Males have been known to do this with issues of other strengths.
Since animals, plants and children are used by politicians today you could say that this is not a very special trait for women only, but in my youth I often saw a few women pick up a child in situations where she was under debate or argument, and forced the aggressive arguing male into direct line of fire with a toddler, of course bringing the child to tears with the angry fathers face now close to its own. This less than noble use of the child was seen in these situations that I was not involved in. As I saw the mother not give up on the conflict, but instead still using the child as a method to silence the male or husband, pushed on. The line used on one such occasion was interesting, “Look the baby is crying because of you and your bad ideas!” This was said in a joking style by the mother, but for me the outsider watching events, it was not funny and was an early lesson in how low some women will go in using the child.
This is similar to pack animals (like monkeys and wolves) when a conflict starts the group all start jumping on or around one another (thus moving the players around so as to confuse the aggressor and target, as both get sidetracked from the conflict and start hitting or biting others not involved with the start of the conflict at all), thus helping group harmony by defusing the fight. Yet for human debates this is not survival at all and doesn’t bring group harmony- if the conflict continues in an indirect fashion later. So the using of the child to deflect points serves no purpose in bringing us closer to truth, but is a simple tactic to stop the direct with the innocent child, thus using the child dishonorably. When I grew older and found others claiming that women would never use a child for other purposes I was more or less shocked at such sweeping claims of the pure woman. There are surely honorable women who would give their life for the child, but in Jean Piaget study (when under stress) females abandon their young in quiet predictable numbers. The fact that abortion is so common (and so much so a woman’s choice) that this simple fact doesn’t match the idea of women never placing something before their own child must be regarded as now totally absurd. For they are not using abortion in only rape cases anymore.
So why carry on this idea that flies in the face of some reasonable evidence? Well it is all about looking good, of course! Even the worst women out there wants to look better, and therefore anything that makes them look better will be applied with extreme prejudice like any treatment that offers a better looking body and or face. Men have been known to stop grooming all together as they lock into some pursuit of choice, yet women much less so.
This is no different with Cybele and her followers. The simple use of emotions to deflect one looking bad is the women’s rule, though many men may use the same technique, the rules still rest with effeminates more.
This Goddess’ statue of the past (found below) is just like the PR department of our day and age as they try to convince us that those who kiss infants and puppies are kind hearted people, and we should worship them or vote for them. In the case of our Mother of all Gods “Cybele” she has all these halmarks, but are attuned to her time. She sits on a throne with two lions at her feet. Like can be found today in tribute to Britannia and Boudicca, which can be found in front of many libraries in Commonwealth countires.
In Honor Verses the Amazonian World I go into great depth to show how in politics and war the Lion is the direct male symbol. So to have two of these brutes at your feet is obviously to mean that males, warriors and dangerous aspects of nature are under her control. This is surely to get our own PC crowd all excited, women controlling men again in the past! Yet it is, of course, PR and therefore we need to see if such a goddess/ queen had such power over men.
It is in the actions that we must judge these goddesses, as judges in court cases must judge the actions of women in child custody cases, crime & all forms when one is rendering a judgment. Not words, tears, the child in her arms and the angry menacing looking man as proof that trumps logic in making decisions.
So this leads us to dealing with this Goddess/ Queen bio proper. Below on the left we have the earliest and most likely truer forum of the Queen earth mother goddess. One of the later PR versions on the rights show how her followers wish to make her look (a major face-lift & tummy-tuck of sorts).
Why the change? Is not the fat sagging chest not bigger is more beautiful? The idea of the farther away in history one's followers get the nicer she looks is interesting in many ways. As maybe the farther we get away from terrible male religions and leaders we get the better they will look! It may help Hitler in history that so many use his Nazis party as a name card to call their opponents for so many things now. Look at the devil today with rock bands wildly using forms of him to show they are bad. Movies use devils in comedies all the time now too.
Woody Allen did this in one of his movies of the future where he wears a Nazis symbol like kids where Che today (not knowing as they do the killing Che has done).
In the past the younger, and therefore prettier females, were much less likely to be skilled in asserting power and also had the tendency to die in childbirth with the thinner modal-like bodies. It was the big woman that produced the children and then needed the big chest to feed the child with enough milk for them to survive past the often deadliest first winter. Big fatter kids made it through the dangerous times. Therefore these women were given the magical power by these qualities and if mixed with an ability to weld dreams and gossip into stories with wordcraft of the highest order, they surely were a power to be reckoned with. Younger naïve and shy women couldn’t hope to muster these skills, but in statue form these younger and thinner looks are more likely to win over followers as the young scantily clad ones we see today.
So it was left to older, smarter, more imaginative women (with the proven power of birth) to weld the power given to them by males. For males, as stated and accepted by most historians, didn’t know that the pleasure they receive from women was responsible for half of the real magic of birth. Even today there are many who still kind of claim this ancient idea of men really having no real role in a child’s life. Brainless instincts diehard!
This later changed, as it became harder to sell female goddesses, as both men and women became aware that men had a place in child procreation. This fact was revolutionary in the rise of patriarchal power. Therefore the power of the old goddess had to steal the beauty of the young women, even though young women have less of the skills (simply by way of their youth) to fill the mystical string pulling goddess’ role. Shyness, stronger cowardice, and over sensitiveness in general stopped this in the younger and prettier.
Why is it in older women this ugly personality is more likely to arise? Which came first the chicken or the egg? Nature likes both shy young girls and nasty bitchy old hags for both can be successful or useful. Old women can’t breed, so making them less attractive is good for males that want to pass on their genes. I prefer a balanced young lady in her youth to turn into an elegant older lady, but this is almost never seen by men these days in the Hollywood-copying generation of women today. I had to go to another culture, somewhat more immune to this push, to find a lady closer to my own vision of a lady.
Yet the need for the old goddess to be likened to a young pretty women had arrived way back when and has grown to this day. As we have covered so far the reason these ugly characters, for women, have stuck around more genetically is clear, but nature has had a hand in making men not want to mate with such women too, and thus drive them to be more bitter as well.
Models are being placed on an equal footing, with empowered women, in our world today by young women (not men). Men are less attracted by models that look like walking hangers and lacking the roundness and softness that can be found in porn more. It is the gay men and young women that worship these models. Maybe for the reason that gay men can look closer to these pole-like bodies, and can posture & strut to the same effect. As opposed to those with more rounded looks that no gay man can ever hope to mimic. That is my guess anyway, for what its worth. While younger girls don't have the roundness, and must play up their youth in long legs, pouting & sulking faces.
Superior Effeminate Leadership (Cybele’s Way)
This living goddess Cybele in her time bore a son that was said to be handsome, again very important in the effeminate matriarchal world. Yet this son was a troubled lad because even though his father had betrothed his son to the daughter of another king (the King of the Pessinus; aka the King with the Midas touch) his mother would have none of it. It is said she drove her husband and son insane at the time. I’m sure you can all identify with the over controlling mother who rules the world around you, that some of us have met. Yet she was the queen or goddess of her world, so things were taken to her kind of extremes in her matriarchal world.
She violated the trust of a mother by having sex with her son too, and thus lays to rest the idea that men only do this. It would seem that the first organized female religion not only had this, but also had it much worse. When you hear a goddess doing this it is more than likely her followers will feel this is much more OK to follow suit, as you will see later as other recorded actions are done by these followers in copying her other deeds. Thus this would mean this argument should hold water. What better way for a woman with endless fears to assure control over one’s son (the future leader) than to have his first sexual experience with her! Sure this will screw up the boy, but all the more need for him to need his mother to sort things out with talk!
Yet you can just imagine all the long list of boys screwed up by the followers of Cybele or any of her other names) as these pedophile habits likely become more rampant with her god-like fashion crazy at this time. As women go after younger boys we should see this for what it is, no different and it should receive equal jail time.
I’ve heard many an excuse when such modern stories of women having sex with under age people come to light. Things like, “Oh the boys probably loved it”, or “They probably even bragged about it!” When such persons hear a mother does such a thing they are less aggressive in the rationalizations, yes, but when the population doesn’t convict as often, and sentencing time in not of equal measure we are really playing a really sick game here. This sick game seems to be found in all western countries, if conviction rates and jail time are any honest measure. The media has been known to even skip such news items all together and center on the abuse by men only. For women do like to see themselves as victims and in a good light, much more than men, or due to men not watching the tube and not buying items on channels that show such disturbing news items, telling them things they don’t wish to hear seems the norm for women.
Yea Cybele was not happy with this injustice alone and went further and screwed around with the minds of her husband, father-in-law to be, son's bride to be, mother-in-law and of course her son Attis. She demanded, after stopping the marriage ceremony, that her husband and son castrate themselves then and there. Yes. That’s right! Just think about that for a moment, and how that would be copied by worshippers too!
The next step was to demand they dress like women and act like women, for are not women’s ways better? Still further she demanded all her male followers do the same in castrating themselves, and thus making themselves eunuchs who dress and act as women, or her Gali or Maenadds. Now think about this. This is a woman of royal rank and probably given the best education at the time, likely getting all one could want at the time in food, clothes and more in exercising her power this way.
Frickin' nice eh? Wow! The unmitigated gall of some women today to say they are better than men now and in the past! This has the making of a Hollywood movie, you would think? Sex, violence and women in control! Yet we are dealing with something too close to our own society situation, and more importantly not to women’s liking, better it show men as bad & woman as good so that the matriarchs don’t get up in arms and directors indirectly ruin by studios banning them etc.
How about any male actors wishing the starring role as the son (Attis)? Would they have a difficult time finding a mangina, for this plot only of course! Say good-bye to acting in any manly roles in the future. Mr. Touchy feely actor is likely gone in other roles! It would be a death nail for many a carrier, and all those actors who say they want parts that are experimental and character based would need to eat crow and answer for why they don’t want such a part if they are so avanguard. Even they would have reached a limit in their bowing to the actress goddess.
As said before these things have a way of fashionably being spread around to other effeminates, and Attis (her beautiful self-castrating son) had his own sub-religion that had men doing as him all over the known ancient world too. Where ever these hand-in-hand religions reached, doing as the goddess demanded (if they wanted to get closer to the faith) would have surely screwed up a population something bad. So you really had a choice; to cut off the family jewels for him or her! "Take your pick" mangina, for the powerful women/queen/goddess or Attis the son!
What many refuse to go into here is how this affected later cultures and may explain their total distrust of female leadership and religions. A Queen/Goddess does not one rest a kingdom place, maybe yes? Why was this religion able to continue on and on in the Greeks, Romans and Gaulic world unless it appealed to self-castrating types and hysterical desiring women! How many male organs were given to Anat, Agdistis, Cybebe, Mater Deum Magna and Rhen and the Attis sub-religions found in Dionysus or later Bacchus. And why do we both see a resurgence in this style among portions of the populations that know not this ancient history, but yearn to similar acts to effete themselves, with the idea that effeminate ways are better!
I would suggest that this is a woman leadership result, that will always rise when large numbers of boys are either brought up by women, or are in effeminately run cultures that are urbanite and distanced from real nature. This can be passed on by effeminate males too, but what is key is traditional male leadership must be removed. This is not to say hardcore male leadership, in it truer forms is all perfect, but a balance between the sexes is best (but we are far from it in our present world, despite feminist claims of patriarchy and Nazism under every rock).
The mythical elements of the Nazi cult are thrown at males today, without much debate. We then must prove to such rhetoric spewing con artists that we are not a Nazis. Such deconstructionists' games should be met with action not words.
Is this unfair? Hitler was said to be possibly deballed in the WWI and worked himself into a hysterical state in speeches. He is said to have treated his audiences as if it were women being seduced on mass. Yet we blindly accept such movements as male by often academic types (who often shy away from manly pursuits themselves). Hitler was short and had a Charlie Chaplin moustache and reminds me of a new German Attis in many ways. He ran behind the lines of battle most of the time, was an artsy-fartsy moody man and had many homosexuals and other oddball sexual men in his inner circle at the beginning. Even he was said to have some odd sexual habits and was said to have made his lovers commit suicide. Is this an average white male from the Western World?
The real Attis was buried in Pessinus, where a pine tree grew ,and this sub-religion influenced the different versions later in many other regions. What the whole castration points to in Cybele is in her trying to stop her losing control of the males in her life. As sex, with her, being the only memory her boy’s has, his greatest pleasure is reinforced to her power. Tyrannical desires and eliminating her fears come first. By making her followers women-like she can maintain or retain better control through their jumping at her indirect power every time. As drones for a queen ant or bee do, her subjects must all become passive females slaves to her, or be kicked out of the hive to die. Her fear of male power makes her control or destroy other male’s pleasure/ power and forces them to become women-like and indirect. As effeminate states do to males, which includes ours today. Surely with no penis these men were more likely to sit around and act like women if they had less testosterone from the testis.
With lesbian & gay raving parties of our own today I don’t think any of these matriarchal followers of the past would be too put out if you placed them in some of these outings today. Transvestite and gay parties are often quiet known for hamsters, and passing of the aids virus knowingly, so as to make it all much more real and closer to some mystical like effeminate divine love through sex thing. They may not have a super diva yet they are bound to make one pretty soon.
Yet what is scary is we have the state as actor is deballing males, through removal of rights. Over taxation, common law marriage, drugging for normal hyper-active boys, female teachers are only welcome, men losing influence in child raising and generally much more of directness bad/ indirectness better. All this looks like is the simple removal of effeminate fears, but are in fact a castration of male power in many ways. Sex takes on the highest of importance in effeminate states for to remove it would remove their power, while male forms of direct power assertion are always made out to be bad. Cybele wouldn’t have had it any other way, now would she?
The God Zeus was said to have sent himself as a boar to destroy the Lydians for their coming acceptance of this matriarchal religion. Attis and some Lydians were said to have been killed by the boar. This could be the root beginning of the turning away from pork that is found in both the Jewish and Muslim religions. The Lydian Gauls who are said to have come from Thrace were clearly said to abstain from pork in records from this period upon their acceptance with the local customs and religion. It may be that we are looking at the root of why this is now a part of religions today (aside from the occasional sickness that come in some undercooked pork, the whole route of the special treatment of pork could be from poor pathetic Attis’ death).
Of course this kind of leadership made all followers stand up and fight for the matriarchal theological dictatorship, right? Well no, we hear of constant moves of different tribes coming into this region, and only the religion remains for it fights none directly. The worship of Cybele was brought to Rome, in about 204 BC, when a sacred black stone of Cybele was transported there. The Romans made laws to limit this troublesome religion’s effects on the population later. Cybele's religion was seen as a very bloody one that required its priests and priestesses, as well as followers, to cut themselves during some rituals.
The priests castrated themselves at their initiations; and there was wild music, chanting, and frenzied dancing. During the Republic and early Empire, festival days were celebrated with eunuchs preceding the goddess through the streets, banging cymbals and drums, wearing bright attire and heavy jewelry, their hair long and 'greased'. Priests and priestesses were segregated, their activities confined to their temples, and Roman citizens were not allowed to walk in procession with them. Neither Roman citizens nor their slaves were allowed to become priests or priestess in the cult. No native-born Roman citizen was to be allowed to dress in bright colors, beg for alms, walk the streets with flute players or worship the goddess in 'wild Phrygian ceremonies'. Those Romans who wanted to continue to worship the goddess set up secret societies known as sodalitates so they could dine together in the goddess' honor. -Wikipedia
This kind of honor I’ll definitely pass on. Early Christians condemned the religion as demonic. By the 4th century Emperor Valentinian II officially banned her worship and allowed cruel persecutions of any who continued the practice. During the reign of Justinian, property was seized, any items of worship were burned, temples were destroyed, and those who still followed the cult were tortured, forced to commit suicide, or buried alive. By the 6th century AD the religion was extinct.
Where & When Her Highness Probably Resided
Mount Ida, Crete, and Mount Ida in Turkey (known as Phrygian Ida in Classical times) were said to be the home of our Mother of the Gods target. It is fair to say the Cybele version probably made its main move from Phrygia to Greece from the 6th century to the 4th. Before the Greeks city-states rise, which came after the Dorian invasions and Crete’s fall. The Greek region was not the center of culture, as we glorify them today as, but Hicksville in those days. The cultured city slickers were to the east and south. As already discussed there were both direct and offshoot versions of this Cybele like goddess found from as far north as the present Baltic states to other regions of the Mediterranean, and recorded to have simular ideas found in the Picts of the British Isles.
As I suggested early Cybele ruled famously and her fame was sent abroad to other regions where it empowered women even more than they were at this time. Any Goddess who asks others to castrate themselves is sure to have scared men and women alike, and with a story being passed on in its time with so much mystical superstitious backwardness one can just imagine the way this could have scared many quite badly. Even today we see when this crime is commited a very lustfulness in many women, which is very stange as they don't often know who is at fault for starting of events leading to the act, but use their crystal balls, before they know, to tell us the man was obviously at fault.
Since life was so harsh, brutish and short in the old times it does fit the times with it extremes. With more young people running around (with shorter lifespans the norm) they were more likely to get all excited about this too. In societies with males still remaining unaware of their part in the making of children, it would only go to reinforce the mystic power of women who probably ruled their religious positions at the time. Druid leadership seems to be much more strongly based to the west, and probably bent their faith to this new undated rise of the mother goddess in Cybele’s likeness that came from the east.
This seems likely as the standard policy of other religions, as they tolerated new gods as they arrived at different times and had different levels of commitment. We can surmise this for we know for sure the Gauls of Turkey were unlikely to break off ties with the rest of Gaulic Europe. With the Celtic arrival in Turkey the route to the rest of Europe lay wide open for such passing on of religions, for they were traders too.
The homeland to Cybele’s was the land being part of those people who had earlier formed the western Hittites or Assyrians regions (again with many names like Glasia, Antioch, Ludia, Phyisa as it seems kingdoms came and went as Cybele's worship remained).
All earth mother’s powers usually rested in her birth power and thus her unscientific connection to good crops, animals and the like. The fact that this seasonal change was likely to be more good than bad, the goddess power could be looked on as working, and hence little need to question her role. As opposed to say a fake example God of say the "Hail God". Who would almost never show up, not be accompanied with seasonal good news, was almost never around to be noticed. Finally the Hail God was likely to just be thrown in with the snow or winter God for good measure. If you wanted a God to work for you it should be connected to consistent good news, important issues, and have fears if one crosses the God etc.
Any mystical women/goddess’ ways will simply not go away with the crushing of the cult or religion, for as we see today the same thing will still arise with no clear teachings or oral history (passed on by women's nature- for the patriarchs of old were very thorough). We have some small cults today with declared witches in earth mother groups, often turned into pretty and nice witches by Hollywood, who we are told we shouldn’t mess with them or we will fall to their indirect powers (and falsely and unhistorically presented) direct ones too.
Pagan or earth mother cults of today are unlikely to read, or be attracted to, the little historical texts and references I have brought or mentioned to you here, but there seems little need for them anyway (unlike male legalism based theology). As with the constant deconstructionism of today such history can be said to be made by the victors, and thus not disturb the mysticism attaching itself to things like humanism, environmentalism and in even Cultural Marxism, which like many ideas also comes from the east too. Russia under the Czar was no hot bed of logical western leadership, as we shall see this is where the Amazonians actually originated too. The question is why do some of us continue to take ideas from unstable lands to the east? There is nothing wrong with the eastern parts of the compass, per say, but what on earth makes so many go for new fads from eastern parts of the world that have been lacking in a leadership system for so long. Is it because anything that is different is good, or is it anything that is effeminate and emotional and takes one away from the male traditions of western men the goal?
Amazonians & Galsons
In Greek mythology, the Gargareans (or Gargarenses) were an all-male tribe. They had sex with the Amazonians annually in order to keep both tribes reproductive. Whether they may have been kidnapped, raped, and murdered for this purpose, or that they may have had relations willingly will never be likely known. Yet since the birth of these 2 tribes had to come from the Amazonian's choice, this meant the male offspring that came from these encounters were dumped at the Galsons sub-tribes door step (so-to-speak). The Amazonians were said to have kept the female babies they produced and raised them as warrioress. Cutting off one breast, to increase their ability with the javelin and bow & arrow, means these women understood they were not made properly for war, and thus deformed themselves for it. These facts are probably unlikely to make any Hollywood story version, for leading women showing one saggy breast and one F/X cut off breast (along with them possibly killing off their male babies at birth) is unlikely to make their Hollywood Movie Agents very happy. The fact that modern women are losing their breasts to cancer is coincidental, though some scientists have connected this to not having children, or not having them by a set time and even some to all the abortions.
As for tactics in war the Amazonians were, of course no surprise here, very womanly too in that Amazonians came into range with their weapons, letting loose with javelin or arrow and galloping away to a safe distance (as distance is used with string pulling of all sorts too). The Greeks considered this effeminate and cowardly, and as said earlier called eastern men effeminate when they acted in the same way. A point of note here is why in the Hollywood versions do they have women going head-to-head when they never did in the records?
Both the Amazonians and Gargareans (Grrr!) were said to have originated on the northeastern shores the Black Sea in the Eastern Ukraine. The Black Sea was undoubtedly smaller then in size, for many believe the Black Sea was created when the Aegean Sea broke into this region causing the story of Noah’s flood, as at one time the Atlantic did the same in breaking into the Mediterranean region at a much earlier in time.
Jason and the Argonauts' boat journey has been retraced in this region, even coming up with the root to the Golden Fleece. Which is still used in gold mining, as a kind of tin plate to separate the heavy gold from the light rock and mud. The Golden Fleece could have been a special fleece from a super gold strike, and collected so much dust that it was kept on the fleece and prized. The people living in that region were said to live in platforms over lakes or rivers, thus saving them from horsemen and horsewomen from the steppes.
The fact that the Amazonians were so close to the influence or power base of those who follow Cybele is very telling, and it is even more telling that the Amazonians are recorded to have up and left their home territory and moved around the smaller Black Sea into the heart of Cybele religious region, which was likely to be made up of several states on the other side of the Black Sea (a hop skip and a jump away). So this points to Cybele religion likely having different priestesses and leaders in charge of religious functions in several states, compounded even more so after her death.
The list of horseriding tribes that have been forced out of their territory from other horseman tribes on the Russian and Asian steppes is indeed very very long, all seem to be fleeing the next horde to come along from the east. Europe is a real bottleneck and this seems to have caused the direction to generally be one way, at least until Europe modernized and then attempted to march on Moscow in force. This is not shocking at all, but the place the Amazonians set up shop is, as I’ve stated this was the center for those who followed the Queen/Goddess Cybele and her son Attis.
By following along the coast into eastern Turkey the Amazonians moved from the open steppe region to a mountainous one, which allowed a much more difficult time for any enemies to outflank you, as opposed to remaining on the open flat prairie of the Russian steppes. Something that horsemen and horsewomen would appreciate. Still did the Amazonians come to be near or smack dab in Cybele Central by fluke, or were they called to come and establish a home there on orders of a, or the, high head priestess?
Agreeing to visit once a year with the Galsons for children would not stop them from simply attacking other states and having sex with the men captured, and or later killing them after the deed, as they moved toward where they had heard the great religion of Cybele resided. They surely found more manageable men for this submissive role the closer they came to her region. It would have been to the benefit of the Amazonians to mate with the stronger males to have stronger women, but then also stronger Galsons would likely cause problems too. What is a dominating woman to do?
Once in the new region they are truly recorded and attributed to being involved in the wars found on Asian Minor, including the battle of Troy. The Amazonians are said to have be eventually conquered by the Greeks of Athens and their Queen married into a royal house in this Greek state.
The Jason of the Argonauts legend came first of all the stories and has Jason and the Argonauts running into the Amazonians in the right place on the northeast coast of Turkey. King Midas is recorded there, as already said was the king whose daughter was so rudely dumped and forced to watch her groom 'to be' and her father-in-law 'to be', castrate themselves before the assembled gathering. So we have a timeline here as the story connects the time period of Cybele being alive, or in old age, at around this time that the Amazonians came. How closely were the Amazonians and Cybele connected? Hard to say really, but the stars seem to be aligning much too well to be mere coincidence. Maybe they got an invitation or were inspired to start their tribe with their mangina men (Grr!).
The Final Patriarchal Suppression of Cybele
Still this religion didn’t die with the death of the Amazonians and was still alive in the time of the Byzantium and the Eastern Orthodox Christian church. Before this St. Paul had come north and was able to convert the peoples to a new faith, unfortunately some have argued that Paul had used the ideas of Attis to sell Christ in his death, resurrection and eating of the body of Christ ritual, as well as having other Pagan elements too. St. Paul (Saul) was born in the Cybele region, grew up with all her customs and rituals, and then needed to win peoples from that region to the faith. Did he distort things to make it more acceptable to the followers, like a hard pressing salesman? Well those Christians who followed James (the brother of Jesus), the Jews and many modern scholars seem to be agree that in fact Paul/Saul did so deform the ideas of Christ. This is best argued by Hyam Maccoby in "The Myth Maker." This would account for many effeminate ideas in Christianity, that manly Christians like Leon J. Podles have pointed out in the book, "The Church Impotent"and would account for the modern churches deforming of it itself to fit the desires of effeminates.
Despite these logical questions put forth, we seem to be more concerned with totally unsupported ideas found in the Da Vinci Code, that has turned a one time whore into the wife and bloodline of Christ. Still in the Byzantium Eastern Empire of old the destruction of the old Cybele and Attis faiths continued; a law in 397 ordered that stones from the old destroyed temples be used in public works projects such as road repair, building of bridges, aqueducts and fortifications, which indicates the magnitude of destruction going on.
John Chrysostom led a death squad through Phrygia (Turkey) killing all the third gendered devotees (Galli) and other worshipers of the Great Goddess Cybele that they came across; the lynching party was praised by the Patriarch of Constantinople. He thanked Chrysostom for leaving Phrygia "without sons her whom they called the Mother of Gods.” The Church particularly hated the tradition of Cybele, whose unpatriarchal practices (prominence of women, transgenderism, homosexuality including lesbianism, direct experience of divinity through ecstatic dancing and music and sex) went so against their own, and whose personal brand of spirituality and immense popularity among the poorer classes (the mob) was felt as a serious competition.
Three centuries earlier Augustine, one of the prime shapers of Christianity called Cybele, a 'demon' and a 'monster' and declared that "The Great Mother surpassed all the gods ... not by reason of the greatness of her divine power but in the enormity of her wickedness."
Justinian, Valentinian II officially banned her worship, making it illegal for citizens to visit her temples. And in 390 Theodosius issued a law directed at the Galli and other gender-variant and homosexually inclined males: "All those who shamefully debase their bodies by submitting them, like women, to the desire of another man, and in giving themselves to strange sexual relations, shall be made to expiate such crimes in the avenging flames, in view of the people." It isn't an accident that St. Peters was built on the spot on the Vatican hill where her temple had stood.
Later as Bishop of Constantinople, John Chrysostom, employed bands of monks to ransack the old sanctuaries of the Phoenician hills. Defending their sacred sites the peasants rose up and massacred or beat up these zealots, while the bishop encouraged the monks to hold on "like pilots in a storm or doctors when fever rises." He funded them, sending supplies of food, clothing and sturdy shoes, and money for hiring laborers to actually pull the buildings down, the Christlike hands to remain unblistered, apparently.
Monks fighting, killing and destroying? It all sounds very male doesn't it?
As this Inanna of Sumerian myth is also named Ishtar, and is the head goddess in the Israeli exile in Babylonia, we might then see again a strong justification for patriarchal ideas in the role of this first snake goddess woman. |
